THE BOOK OF PSALMS COLLECTED INTO ENGLISH meter, by THOMAS STERNEHOLD, JOHN HOPKINS, and others: conferred with the Hebrew; with apt Notes to sing them withal. Set forth and allowed to be sung in all Churches, of the people together, before and after Morning and Evening Prayer: As also before and after Sermon; and moreover in private houses, for their godly solace and comfort, laying apart all ungodly Songs and Ballads, which tend only to the nourishment of vice, and corrupting of youth. JAMES V. If any be afflicted, let him pray: if any be merry, let him sing Psalms. COLLOSSIANS III. Let the word of God dwell plenteously in you, in all wisdom, teaching and exhorting one another, in Psalms, Hymns, and spiritual Songs, and sing unto the Lord in your heart.
