- The man is blest that God doth fear,
- and that his laws doth love indeed.
-
- 2 His seed on earth God will uprear,
- And bless such as from him proceed:
-
- 3 His house with good he will fulfill,
- His righteousness endure shall still.
-
- 4 Unto the righteous doth arise
- In trouble joy, in darkness light:
- Compassion is in his eyes,
- And mercy always in his sight:
-
- 5 Yea, pity moveth such to lend,
- He doth by judgment things expend.
-
- 6 And surely such shall never fail,
- For in remembrance had is he:
-
- 7 No tidings ill can make him quail,
- Who in the Lord sure hope doth see:
-
- 8 His heart is firm, his fear is past,
- For he shall see his foes downcast.
-
- 9 He did well for the poor provide,
- His righteousness shall still remain,
- And his estate with praise abide,
- Though that the wicked man disdain:
-
- 10 Yea, gnash his teeth thereat shall he,
- And so consume his state to see.
