W. O. Hutchinson Sergeant William Oliver Hutchinson, aged 36 (1864-1928). He was a senior N.C.O. in the Grenadier Guards (an elite regiment in the British Army) stationed in London. He was converted at 17 among the Wesleyans in Blanchland, Northumberland. He had been a soldier for 17 years and attended the Wesleyan Church. He would shortly be sent to join the British Forces engaged in the South African War (often called the ‘Boer War’, 1899-1902). Several times he was nearly killed but the Lord mercifully preserved him.
